Representing Employees in all Sectors of the Workforce
Currently we are certified at; Teck Metals, Kootenay Savings Credit Union, Red Mountain, Sandman Hotel, Kootenay Insurance Services, Interior Health, KC Recycling and Waneta Plaza.
USW Local 9705 has been representing workers in the West Kootenay’s since 1973.
We are committed to fighting for better wages, benefits and working conditions; providing a democratic voice in the decisions that affect our working lives; and, through political action, building a progressive social movement to improve the lives of working men and women and their families.
In conjunction with our District and National Offices we have access many resources such as; Education, Training, and Legal to assist us in whatever challenges we face. The USW has many years of experience representing workers in all sectors of the workforce and ensuring their rights and privileges are upheld.
Steelworker locals in Western Canada have played leading roles in establishing the best collective agreements to be found anywhere in the world.
Our Monthly Membership meeting is held on the Third Thursday of each month, except July and August, at 6:30 in the Union Hall.
