If you are reading this article and/or you buy your power from Fortis, then you need to attend this rally in front of the Fortis building downtown Trail, 4:30 Thursday, August 29th.
Fortis employees have been suffering under a company imposed lockout for more than two months already, with no sign that the company is letting up. That means they and their families have had a pretty hard summer with no paychecks coming in and their futures in Limbo.
Even though the union has offered to accept the companies primary demand, repeatedly agreed to mediation at the bargaining table and the two sides seem to be close with regards to the actual terms; Fortis has continued to keep local workers away from their jobs and refuses to sit at the table.
Tomorrow’s rally is intended to bring information to the public in the hopes of gaining public support for a resumption of bargaining and hopefully some sort of settlement. I strongly suggest you come out to find out what is really happening with one of our regions biggest employers and one of the two main providers of your electricity.
You do have a say in this dispute!
