Our Members at the Sandman Hotel in Castlegar voted 93% in favour of accepting a new Collective Agreement.
Management’s original proposal was to create two-tier wage and benefit levels for new and existing employees. Our membership voted 94% in favour of strike action and due to their solidarity we were able to fight off all of the Company’s concessions.
Each Employee will receive a $250 signing bonus upon signing and pay increases as follows;
May 1, 2012 – 2%
May 1, 2013 – 2.5%
May 1, 2014 – 3.0%
In addition we also bargained;
- one additional paid personal day per year
- Company paid medial and dental premiums while off work under STD and LTD, for the first 12 months of absence
- Increased employer paid benefits, from 75% to 90%
- Add Grandchildren to Bereavement Leave
